Mmmmmm

A few weeks ago a friend stopped by and while he was here he shared his new post-workout ritual... chocolate milk!  I was immediately skeptical until I did some research and as it turns out, it's legit.  In fact, many experts now claim that chocolate milk can be better for muscle recovery than your typical sports drink.  Why?  Too much sugar.  Chocolate milk is also crammed full of carbohydrates and protein.  Add in the milk and you've got bone friendly calcium and vitamin D.  Now I'm no expert, so check it out yourself. In the meantime, think I could go for a workout right now.

(Next on my list, examining the health benefits of gummy bears and peanut butter frozen yogurt.)

My first birdie sling

Well it all started almost a year ago at a local craft fair.  Amongst all of the cheery Christmas decor and delicious smelling kettle corn, I stumbled across a little stand full of gorgeous hand sewn bags and accessories.  I picked up a fabulous big bag which quickly became my go-to for carrying my whos its and whats it galore.  A few months later I was perusing an old catalog of fabrics and what do you know, I found the pattern.  

I went online, purchased the Amy Butler Birdie Sling pattern and a collection of Valori Wells fabrics and started on my first bag.  Several days later and one near all nighter (thanks Justin) my sling was complete!  I love how the size of the bag shows off the beautiful fabric and now my biggest dilemma is finally giving away my new bag to a loving home (that's you Mom.)

Since completing this project, the baby to do list seems to be growing by the week, so the next sling will have to wait a while.  One plus, the leftover fabric from the sling made some adorable little burp cloths and blanket.  I hope the new parents-to-be will like them.

Time to craft

I am so excited to share my latest crafty creation.  This lovely owl was designed by Jessica Levit and I must say I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.  In fact, it inspired me to create more little ornaments of my own design using extra felt and buttons I had around the house.  With a little more time and planning, I hope to make some fun little guys to share as Christmas gifts and gift tags.

This one is super fun and I finally found a place to use my little goldfish button.

 

Isn't this little mushroom adorable with the pink button?  I also think the stem has a little bit of a Charlie Brown feel to it.  Maybe the next one will be a Peanuts theme!

It's Fall!

In honor of the first full day of this Autumn season, I'm sharing a photo of my wedding cake from my Fall themed wedding last September.   The cake was made from a local baker in Amador County and was designed by spending hours and hours at the cutest little shop called The Ribbonerie in San Francisco. (Note to self, find a craft project that requires a special trip to buy fabulous vintage ribbon.)

I would give you a bouquet of freshly sharpened #2 pencils

One of my all time favorite lines from a movie.  I think of it every year when it's back to school time, the leaves are changing colors, and you walk along the city streets with an old song by The Cranberries playing in the background.  What happened to the good ol' days of movies like You've Got Mail? 

I'd like to put my own personal spin on the line, however.  If anyone ever wanted to score points with me, a bouquet of strawberry fruit snacks would do just fine.  Fruit Rolls Ups, organic fruit nuggets, strawberry fruit strips from Target, you know, the old fruit leather treats that are just the perfect snack to get through a slow afternoon at the office or a long day of travel.  They fit perfectly in your purse, they never go bad.  Don't let anyone ever tell you you're too old for a fruit roll.

Gossip Girl junkie

Just caught up on last night's episode of Gossip Girl and all I can say is thank goodness the new season has finally started.  Am I the only one who thinks the show deserves an Emmy for the beautiful photography?  Chuck Bass, Blair Waldorf, red dress, the gare du nord...I had to pause my DVR to take it all in.  GG never disappoints and is definitely my biggest guilty pleasure on a weeknight.
